What We Do
Concrete Promotion
One of the most significant benefits
of association membership is the promotion
of ready mixed concrete over the
use of other materials. Our association has, historically,
majored in
concrete promotion and has done an outstanding job. In 2003, we reported
to SCCPA (our promotion partner) 360,878 cubic yards of promotion yardage that
was secured in the ICF, Flowable Fill, Tilt-up and Paving markets. This
yardage utilized
over 69,000 tons of cement. We are certain that there
is much more concrete that is
promoted by our membership, but this alone is
significant for our state. Promotion is a
process that is often vague in
the direct benefit, however, we know that as the emphasis
on promotion is
maintained and as more of our members get involved, we will "enlarge the
pie"
that all of our members "take their slice" from.

Legislative Presence
ORMCA
has realized there is a need to establish a relationship with the Oklahoma
Legislature,
and other governmental bodies. We hold a Legislative Reception
which allows our members to
create a channel of communication with important
decision makers.
Education & Training
ORMCA is an approved Local Sponsor for several American Concrete Institute
Certification Programs (Concrete Field Testing Technician, Concrete
Flatwork/Finisher Technician,
Concrete Strength Testing Technician, and
Aggregates Testing Certifications). These
certification programs help to enhance company
and employee performance and standards,
and are offered in-state at a
discounted member price.

The ORMCA office currently houses and maintains the
Oklahoma
Chapter ACI Technical Library.

Newsletter
We produce a quarterly newsletter, "Mixed
Messages," that keeps members
up-to-date on association and industry
news. It is an
excellent source for
members to advertise their products or services.

The ORMCA website was created by and is maintained by ORMCA
staff. It is intended to
provide essential information for our members and the
public. One of the most utilized segments
of the site is the "Producer Locator" component.

Through this linked webpage, an out of state construction
firm or any consumer can select
the county they have interest in and the site will return
the ready mix producers serving that
county with phone numbers for contact. Also included
are key dates and announcements
of industry programs and events. A full index of
industry related links are listed such as the
American Concrete Institute, Portland Cement Association,
National Ready Mixed Concrete Association and the Concrete Homes websites.
Association Meetings
Twice a year we hold meetings that are association wide
events.
Winter Meeting is designed to be a "Nuts
& Bolts" type of event with members coming together from all over the
state to hear topics that relate to Operations, Production, Maintenance, the
Environment, Safety, and Promotion (to name a few). This 1/2 day
Thursday and 1/2 day Friday format provides a fast paced delivery of
information and creates some valuable cross-state networking opportunities.
Our Annual Meeting (or the Summer Convention)
is held in June of each year and marks the end and beginning of another
membership year. It is a little more "laid back" as we gather
to provide information on what the association has accomplished in the past
year and make decisions concerning the overall direction of our
association. It is the perfect venue for a little fun and relaxation
with families, co-workers and industry associates often in a resort
atmosphere. Many companies frequently utilize this meeting as a reward
for their key employees for a job well done during the year.
Both meetings will also provide great
"get-to-know-you" opportunities for the associate member that
provides goods and services to the ready mixed concrete producers.
